Reimagining Data Transcription- CoNote
The redesign of Conote centered on improving the platform's overall UX and educating users about privacy measures. I spearheaded the effort by creating the first design system and integrating key behaviors to enhance accessibility and efficiency, resulting in a more user-friendly and secure platform.
Role: UX Researcher, UX Designer, UI Designer
Time: 3 months
Deliverables: Research Report, Clickable Prototype, Stakeholder Presentation

This project aims to enhance the functionality of the platform post registration, with a focus on improving user journeys related to file uploads, insight extraction and editing, highlight compilation, and sharing.
Additionally, strategies will be developed to address user concerns regarding data privacy to educate and reassure users about CoNote's robust privacy protocols, ensuring confidence and trust in the platform's capabilities.

CoNote.ai streamlines qualitative research processes by offering video transcription, and analysis alongside team collaboration features. Emphasizing data privacy, CoNote employs advanced encryption services to enable users to upload and analyze videos or audio files effortlessly.
User Research
We conducted user interviews to understand the behaviors and research methods employed by the target users of CoNotes. As a result, we pinpointed three research areas for the next step.
Topic 1: What methods or tools do users use to take notes when conducting qualitative research
Topic 2: What are the pinpoints users are currently facing in the process of conducting research
Topic 3: Conduct competitive analysis to evaluate the workflow of key competitors, such as Notably and Looppanel
Whom we interviewed…
14 UX Professionals
2 Graphic Designers
2 Other Professionals
The top three findings are…
1: Time Constraints Due to Manual Processing Challenges
Users highlighted a lack of time due to the challenges of manually processing lengthy interviews and hand-writing notes, especially when retrieving missing details like names, numbers, or terms.
2: Multi-Tool Workflow and File Management
Some interviewees face frustrations from the experience of using multiple tools to complete a project, resulting in various file types from these applications.
3: Need for Seamless Integration and Team Accessibility
This need stems from integrating with other applications and ensuring teammates can easily understand the prepared tools and documents.
Competitive Analysis
Below are a few excerpts from the competitive analysis. I went through the entire product cycle of two other products, Notably and Looppanel, from starting a new file to sharing the completed file with another teammate.
Key takeaways:
Guild users to the next step of the process through a seamless workflow
Data should be central to the experience and users should be able to modify as much as needed
Data extraction and referencing should be accessible throughout the entire process
UX/UI Design
Project Creation
We streamlined the onboarding process and implemented a navigation bar that functions as a progress indicator, guiding users through each step of the research process. This intuitive approach ensures users can quickly access and utilize key features, significantly reducing the learning curve and enabling efficient task completion.
Key takeaways:
Make it easy to start a project and file upload.
Provide a personalized way of creating the project file based on the user's needs.
Improve the accessibility of other features and ensure they are understandable to them.
File Editing
Designed a cohesive layout inspired by familiar tools, such as Microsoft Word, to reduce user friction and enhance accessibility, making it easier for users to locate and interact with the files presented to them. Additionally, I ensured that project files and workflows within the platform were fully customizable and editable at all times, allowing users to tailor the experience to their specific needs and preferences.
File Sharing and Other Features
We have integrated advanced features such as file uploading, extraction, editing, and sharing directly into the workflow, while providing clear, in-context explanations to make these features easily accessible and understandable to users.
User Flow
Usability Testing
Throughout the design and iteration process for Conote, numerous usability tests were conducted on smaller features using remote unmoderated user testing platforms. For the final usability testing session before launch, I conducted remote usability testing with 5 participants. I was responsible for recruiting and scheduling participants, developing a moderator’s guide, moderating the usability tests, and analyzing the results. While no critical usability issues were identified, I was able to implement several smaller improvements, enhancing the overall user experience before the platform's launch.
Key Areas to Explore:
Are users able to successfully start a project and upload files?
Are users able to understand the transcribed file and make edits to it?
Does current terminology and explanations make sense to users?
Do users know how to export files, or share them with a friend?
Key Findings:
While participants were able to streamline the file upload and transcribe process, it took a bit of time for users to comprehend some other features such as the “insight”.
Some terminology (such as “themes” and “keyword”) wasn’t clear.
